The Butte Local Development Corporation is the lead economic development organization for Butte-Silver Bow and also plays a leading role in economic development for Southwest Montana and Montana as a whole. The BLDC serves as the primary point of contact for individuals or companies wishing to save, expand, start or locate a business in Butte, Montana or the Butte-Silver Bow area.

The US Postal Service is proposing moving the mail processing service for Southwest Montana from Butte to Great Falls. Attached is a copy of Paul Babb's editorial that appeared in the Montana Standard on 12/28/2011. This would eliminate one-day mail service and replace it with 2-3 day service. Currently many individuals and businesses rely heavily on one-day service for delivery of medicines, bills, payments, parts, etc. It is imperative that we convey our thoughts to the USPS on this consolidation of service. In addition there is an open comment period until January 18th where the USPS will accept written comments. Attached is a sample letter that can be signed and sent in recording your objection to the consolidation. If you would like to write your own letter, please use the address on the sample letter. Also please send a copy of your letter to the BLDC in order to keep an accurate count of the number of letters submitted. Copies of the letter will be available at the meeting on January 3rd that may be signed and turned in that evening. Thank you for supporting the continuation of our current local mail service!
