Hello All:
I am incredibly excited to be writing you to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of our amazing organization, the Butte Local Development Corporation (BLDC). Over the last 5 years I have worked in economic development in our great community with a focus on bringing the region inward and developing Butte as the true economic hub of Southwestern Montana. I am incredibly excited to expand this work and continue to drive economic development in our community through the creation of a vibrant economy, strong high-quality jobs, and a city that we are all proud to call home.
At the BLDC, we have big plans for the end of 2017 and the start of 2018. The first is continuing the great work that our staff has done to start this year while expanding on the initiatives we have successfully implemented. This includes targeted marketing efforts to promote our community, hosting/sponsoring local events, and lending money to help leverage private dollars to create new jobs, help businesses expand, and attract new businesses. The success of these programs can be seen throughout town as new businesses are opening regularly and our local economy is as strong as ever.
New initiatives that we will be offering beginning in the Fall of 2017 include:
- Partnering with Headwaters to host a Butte Young Professionals guest lecture series and evening social,
- The re-start of the incredibly successful Mile High Innovation Network,
- Expanded marketing efforts to promote our great community and the endless opportunities that we have to offer, and
- Application for new loan funds to diversify and expand the BLDC loan portfolio.
It is a very exciting time for Butte! I look forward to being a champion for our community and cannot wait to be a part of impactful progress in years to come. We would not be able to continue to do the incredible work that we are so passionate about without your support, and for that we are truly thankful. We are in a strong position to help our local businesses grow, as our diverse and vibrant economy is perfectly situated to attract new companies to our business friendly environment.
