Corporation Stats – Major Employers

St. James Healthcare
With the expansion of its cancer center, St. James continues to establish itself as a regional healthcare center. As Butte’s population ages, the industry is only expected to need more workers. The hospital, with other health care entities, just completed a major study examining Butte’s health needs.

NorthWestern Energy
As the new headquarters for NorthWestern Energy rises above Uptown rooftops, the business remains a major anchor for the rest of Butte. Its new building is slated to open in early 2016 and will consolidate the business’ locations.

Montana Resources
Long the lifeblood of Butte, mining doesn’t have the same impact on the town workforce as it once did. But it’s still a major player, and its employees have some of the best-paying jobs in town. Montana Resources estimates it has about 30 to 40 years of production left in the mine.

Town Pump
The ubiquitous chain operates nine gas stations and convenience stores in Butte, plus casinos. While its gas stations and convenience stores are the most visible part of the company, its corporate headquarters are also located in Butte.

Acadia
The residential treatment center for children and adolescent offers behavioral, emotional and psychiatric health care. The facility has 68 beds.

REC
The manufacturer is the largest in Butte’s industrial park and one of the largest in town. Its corporate earnings have taken a hit as the solar industry becomes more competitive, but it remains an industrial anchor for Butte.

Community Counseling and Correctional Services
The private non-profit provides services for local, state, and federal agencies including correctional and other human service programs designed for adults and juveniles. It opened in Butte in 1983 as the Butte Pre-Release Center.

Genesis Healthcare Butte Center
Fresh off an extensive renovation, the Butte Center is a senior care facility that offers long-term and short-term residency. With Butte’s high percentage of baby boomers, the facility seems well-situated for growth.

Southwest Montana Community Health
Another example of health care’s importance to Butte’ economy, Southwest Montana Community Health Center provides medical, dental, and behavioral health care and operates pharmacies. The group specializes in offering affordable care for low-income patients.

Montana Tech – of the University of Montana
Montana Tech provides a challenging and rewarding college education for success-oriented students, specializing in the STEM disciplines.
