Stellar test results from the academic year 2012 to 2013 skyrocketed Margaret Leary Elementary to the top 98 percent in reading proficiency and the top 92 percent in reading nationwide. That was reason enough for the dynamic school, comprised of hard-working teachers and exceptional students, to earn a 2015 National Blue Ribbon for exemplary academic performance. The school celebrated in fine style, with cupcakes and a party for students, last year. Under the leadership of former principal Brett Huntsman, Margaret Leary had the distinction of being the only Montana school so honored that year. The Mustangs beat out 300 other Montana elementary schools for the award.
